Removing Scareware

Do you hate those programmes which tell you that you have 000's of viruses and it takes you to a payment site to buy the software to remove the viruses? This is probably scare-ware, a program which tells you about fake viruses so they can get money out of you. Don't do it! Try following these steps below.

Most scare ware software cant run in safe mode these days because Microsoft has increased their security on the core operating system (if you've done your updates)

Therefore, its relatively easy to remove malicious programmes as they all have an entry in the windows start-up list.

(there are two locations in the registry, your users run list and the machines run list). Deleting stuff from the registry is not recommended especially if you've never heard about the run folders before. Instead, spy bot advanced tools has a user interface to disable stuff for you.

First, you need to get yourself into safe mode (with networking support… you want to be able to download spybot.) To do this, switch off your PC, and start it up whilst hammering F8. Eventually you will see a screen giving you the option to enter safe mode with networking.

Get yourself logged into windows, and download and spybot, available here: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/ownmirrors1/index.html

You can follow the wizard if you like, personally, I wouldn't bother backing up the registry, it takes ages.

Although you should immunize and do the normal scan (do that at your own leisure), you need to click on Mode, then Advanced then a hidden menu will appear. Under tools, click System Start-up and you can see the programs which start when your computer starts.

If you click on the arrows on the right, if there is any information about the entry, it will tell you if it is safe/not required/potential virus. This is a very good way to speed up your PC, however, you wouldn't want to disable all of them, especially the Windows Logon ones (for XP)

The Key section will either say, LM (Local Machine) or CU (Current User). If it is current user, typically, anything you disable will be absolutely fine as it is tied in with your user account only.

Bed and Breakfast

I'm stopping at a lovely little bed and breakfast, and its apparent 30 minutes ago that I have officially entered a competition with the host.

The unspoken rules are quite simple; create the most amusing pose using the supplied soft toy.

I have reconstructed pose #1 for your benefit;

Upon my return, I was delighted to see the said bear take on a different pose

Following deep thought, I have prepared my attack;

I will be sure to post the pose I get in return.

Most annoying things..Today

"Annoyance (also called pother) is an unpleasant mental state that is characterized by such effects as irritation and distraction from one's conscious thinking. It can lead to emotions such as frustration and anger. The property of being easily annoyed is called petulance."

There were several things I would have liked to have written about, but my distraction is caused by 1 small Moth. I am sitting in the room thinking what to blog and all of a sudden this Moth comes and harasses me... He is now on the floor and im sure he's watching me.

Its amazing how much small things can cause frustration.

I have picked up the creature gently and let him free back outside. Despite how much he annoyed me, for some reason, I didn't kill him (or her assuming if its a she).

I really shouldn't blog if I haven't got anything to say. I'm sorry for the crap post.

Becoming a Millionaire

OK, I'm probably not the only person in the world who wants more money. Although money cannot solve all problems, it can certainly solve some.

Me personally, I am a wasteful spender, and I think my goals may be achieved if I could save properly. My odds of wining the lottery are very low, therefore I need to devise on a cunning plan to make my own millions.

Why am I Blogging?
I haven't really blogged before. I think blogging is bigger in America than Britan. I dont follow anyone elses blogs. Why would anyone want to read average Joe Bloggs Blog? Well, I don't really know. Maybe someone may bump onto my blog and it will help them on their journey. For me, Blogging may be a way to share my life, certain rare findings that I want to share with the rest of the world. Or to hold me publically responsible as a push for progression.

Back to the money. Money is hard to keep track of, maybe a step forward is to split my incomings into 4 different bank accounts; 1 for petrol, 1 for cash points, 1 for bills and 1 for savings. I lost count how many times I've been to the cash point. Money will be spent like water. If I can be anal about where my money is going and sticking to a budget, I may be able to save some dosh.

Progression. most of us wants to be millionaires, but how did the rich become rich? Bill Gates had a product and formed a company, Sir Alan Sugar formed a company. If I want to make my first Million, surely I need to set up a Company on the side. But where is the gap in the Market, who should be my customers and how can a one man band competing with well known established businesses?
